At Clayton, we enrich your child’s day-to-day academic learning and equip students with essential life skills! Our curriculum is custom-designed to help students gain the necessary tools to be community builders in their schools, homes, and future workplaces.
Each lesson we teach is carefully aligned with the TEKS, ensuring Clayton is enhancing what students are learning in the classroom across arts & humanities, STEM, health & wellness, and beyond.
Our curriculum is custom-developed to be fun, hands-on, and activity-based, helping our students love learning while building essential life skills. Clayton Quest units rotate, allowing students to go on a quest through a new themed unit every six weeks over the course of three years.
Each year also includes a “mini-unit” to begin and end the year with optional extension events.
Complemented by our C.L.I.M.B. tools, we equip students to communicate, problem solve, gain confidence, and work together as a community. Our life skills curriculum includes tools that help students successfully navigate hands-on activities and build core strengths.
Demonstrate thoughtfulness and sensitivity when interacting with people of all backgrounds. Understand that diversity and life experiences shape social norms and perspectives in our schools, homes and communities.
Assess circumstances and the environment to make rational and ethical choices that have a positive impact on self and others. Have a positive influence on peers and their community.
Maintain self-control over one’s own behaviors, impulses and actions. Manage independently to achieve personal and academic success.
Have awareness of one’s own strengths, weaknesses, emotions and beliefs. Acknowledge their abilities and limitations to reach their full potential.
Collaborate with groups of people from various backgrounds. Have clear communication and a cooperative spirit. Listen and comprehend to understand peers and resolve conflict.
We prioritize felt safety, nutrition, hydration and physical activity. Our program leaders are highly involved in activities so they can meet students’ needs, teach them how to regulate themselves, and help them participate in activities.
It’s important that each child feels like they belong in our program. Our Clayton Kids are encouraged to make friends and connect with other children through group work. We offer community times so children can get to know each other, learn how to belong to a group, and work together.
In order for children to grow and thrive, Clayton believes they must have the ability to ask for what they need and want from others in respectful and productive ways. We help our students recognize how unique and special they are, work through conflict, manage their emotions, and achieve goals with confidence.
Through intentional activities, we encourage our Clayton Kids to be creative, solve problems, have fun, and celebrate accomplishing their goals while completing challenges within their groups. Our students learn how to manage individual and group needs and collaborate with each other in an independent way.
