Educational Assistance

Did you know that Clayton provides Educational Assistance for employees who are interested in continuing their academic careers? Clayton has set aside funding to help. We want to encourage you to apply for Clayton’s Educational Assistance Plan if you are currently attending school or thinking about going back to school, considering your Director’s Certification and other career development. Set up an appointment to talk to Paula about career, academic development, and FAFSA. The details and form are attached. Please review the application and contact Human Resources for more information or if you need assistance.

Clayton University

Based on feedback from employees, Clayton University will launch this summer providing opportunities for professional and personal development. One of the biggest benefits of continuing education is that it can improve one’s skills in a current job or help gain new skills in preparation for career development and goals. Research shows both companies and employees reap the benefits, including increased job satisfaction levels, career development opportunities, and better retention.

The first session will be a more relaxed program and tied to the Wellness Initiative and is titled, Be Kind to Yourself. Brené Brown asks a great question regarding the way we talk to ourselves: “If you had a friend who talked to you the way you talk to yourself, would you still be friends with that person?” Many of us are hard on ourselves and have extremely high expectations when it comes to our personal work. Burnout, as defined by Ayala Pines and Elliot Aronson, is a state of physical, emotional and mental exhaustion caused by long-term involvement in emotionally demanding situations. Sometimes, as caring adults who work with children and young people, we forget that we are human beings, we forget that we don’t have endless stores of energy and creativity. Educators and caregivers often fail to allow themselves to recharge. Join Paula in exploring activities to re-energize, setting boundaries, self-honesty, healthy habits and intentionality (habits and practices) on May 23rd from 11 to 12:30 at the corporate lounge. Bring lunch to munch. Email Paula at pyoder@claytonyouth.org
