The ACA accreditation program is designed to guide camp administrators on the many aspects of running a high-quality program, with a special focus on health, safety, and overall camper experience. It also serves as a trusted tool for families, helping parents find camps that meet industry-recognized and government-backed standards. As the only nationwide accrediting body for all types of organized camps, ACA represents the gold standard in summer programming.
Why Is ACA Accreditation Important?
ACA accreditation shows that a program is fully invested in industry-recognized policies and standards across health, safety, and risk management. Parents who are looking for the best camps in their area can rely on ACA accreditation to let them know a camp consistently goes above and beyond in areas such as staff training, emergency management, and facility safety. The accreditation process is long and not taken lightly. It can take up to about five years, but Clayton was able to achieve accreditation in only two!
Our ACA Accreditation Experience
So what does the ACA review process really look like? In one review of our camps, our reviewers spent over six and a half hours with us, meeting our campers, chatting with staff, and observing our summer camp activities in action. They carefully reviewed all of our documentation against ACA’s 164 mandatory standards, and we’re proud to share that Clayton successfully met 162 of them right off the bat!
