Simply put Clayton Youth Enrichment has been in the business of changing lives since 1975. Through our high quality child care programs, we are fostering the emotional, social, and educational development of the next generation.
Clayton is a non-profit organization created by the community for the community. As Tarrant County’s largest provider of on-site after-school programs, we serve more than 7,000 students in more than 80 public and private schools annually.
Our mission is to serve communities of North Texas by providing quality programs that foster the emotional, social, and educational development of children, youth, and families.
As a 501(c)(3) non-profit, our mission is at the heart of everything that we do. With our Social Emotional Learning Initiative, Clayton is preparing children for great lives with cutting edge curriculum focused on social and emotional health and skills. The SEL Initiative is helping students cultivate self-awareness, manage their emotions, feel and show empathy, maintain positive relationships, as well as make responsible decisions.
“Clayton After School” was founded in 1975 when a group of parents from Lily B. Clayton Elementary in Fort Worth ISD came together to solve two problems in their community: keep their school from closing amidst decreasing enrollment rates and the need for before and after school care for the children of health care professionals who worked in the nearby hospital district.
The parents and teachers of Lily B. Clayton worked with Fort Worth ISD to create a partnership that benefited all involved. After a few years other schools in Fort Worth ISD saw the need for a similar program and Clayton began to grow. By the 1990’s, Clayton expanded its services to other school districts in Tarrant County.
Clayton has continued to grow over the years but its focus on being a community driven organization has continued. Visit a Clayton campus and you might find a former student who now works for us. Take a look at our Board of Directors and you’ll see Clayton parents continue to guide our organization. Talk to a leader in the greater Fort Worth community and you might learn they are Clayton alumni and credit Clayton for influencing their love of learning or career choices.
